Thoresby Hall Wedding
Stef + Lucy
Stef and Lucy got married at the St. John’s church in Perlethorpe, a very short walking distance from Thoresby Riding Hall where the wedding reception took place later in the afternoon. I started the day with photographing the morning preparations at Lucy’s parents house where she was getting ready with her two sisters. After some photos at the house, a short drive took me to the Thoresby Park. I then walked to the St. John’s church where I have met Stef and his grooms men. Stef and the boys had greeted arriving guests and soon the bridesmaids pulled up. Lucy and dad came just a few minutes after them. Some last minute touch ups and a chat with the vicar then the great ceremony began. When Lucy walked down the aisle I was at the back of the church and for me it was worth to be there. I could then clearly see the pride and joy on Stef’s face at their first look. Vows and rings exchange happened in a very happy atmosphere. As newly-married Stef and Lucy danced their way out the church with massive smiles on their faces. Outside the church there were greetings, hugs, smiles and laughter. We also found some time for a handful of formal photos and a confetti shot. Everyone made their way for a drinks reception which happened just outside the Thoresby Hall Hotel. Stef and Lucy are big fans of a documentary wedding photography and they weren’t keen on having posed photographs. Instead they went for a walk to Thoresby Hall grounds where they had some quiet time on their own. I just followed them with my cameras and took some photos in a discreet manner without prompting or staging. Results were truly great. Stef and Lucy don’t hide their love and emotions and they gave me plenty of opportunities during the day to capture some special moments they shared.
I then managed to take some photos of details and the room set up before guests sat down for their meal. Beautifully decorated venue, beams, brickwork and fine details that Stef and Lucy had crafted, all together created a very atmospheric place with lots of character. Speeches were awesome, just honest and straight from the heart. No drafts downloaded from the internet were used (yes, it does happen a lot at weddings). Then the evening began, some more guests arrived and relaxed atmosphere was present all the time. The family had a very special surprise gift for the couple. Stef and Lucy were presented with a hand-made duvet crafted by quite a few family members. It was a great moment to witness as you can imagine, it was quite emotional.
After the first dance the dance floor was full. I took some photos of the guests dancing before I disappeared into the night…
It was an absolute pleasure photographing Stef and Lucy’s wedding at the Thoresby Riding Hall.
“I just wanted to let you know that we have received the photos, and we absolutely love them. They’re wonderful! We really don’t know how you manage to capture all those moments! Thank you for everything.”
