Back in June, I found myself photographing Saffron and Kristian’s Thoresby Riding Hall Wedding. When I turned up on the day it felt like I’ve known them for years, and I literally have! They booked me four years before the day!! No one has ever beaten this record so if you’re planning to get married in 2024 get in touch quick! On a serious note, K and S have given themselves plenty of time to plan and organise their dream wedding at Thoresby Riding Hall. The attention to details really showed through during the day. It also proved that patience and smart planning pay off in the end.
My documentary wedding photography and relaxed approach perfectly suited what Saffron and Kristian were looking for. Photographing their wedding was a true joy. What’s your story/how did you meet?
I had added Kristian on Facebook one day, little did we know I already knew some of his family before we had even met. I worked as a waitress and had served his Nanna & Auntie every Thursday before I linked with Kristian on Facebook. We had arranged to meet one day! Before we were meeting up, he had nipped over to his Nanna’s and she asked him what he was up to the rest of the day? He had said that he was off to see a girl called Saffron, then his Nanna said: “Aww! Our Little Saffy!”  Then the rest is history!

Can You Tell How The Proposal Happened?
We decided to book a weekend away in London to go and see the poppies at the Tower Of London. We got the train down, had a lovely meal at the hotel, then we decided to take a walk to see if we could go up to The Shard that night. When we got there The Shard was closed (Kristian was originally going to propose to me up The Shard) so we decided to head back to the hotel for a few drinks at the bar. When we were heading back, we crossed over The Tower Bridge, Kristian told me to turn round to look at a boat on the river, and then when I turned back around, he was there on his knee, OF COURSE I SAID YES!

Why Did You Choose The Thoresby Riding Hall As Your Wedding Venue?
Thoresby Riding Hall offered everything that we wanted for our dream day, the room was the blank canvas that we were looking for, the surroundings were beautiful, and the staff was always there on hand even leading up to the final days of planning.

What was your general vision for the wedding day?
We had decided that we wanted our colour scheme of Rose Gold, Tiffany Blue & Pastel Pink with some hints of Game of Thrones in there too. We wanted a modern and a relaxed feeling for our wedding day, lots of flowers, a big cake, and for people to have an amazing time and always remember our wedding day!

 Your entire wedding day was awesome, but which part of the day felt most amazing?
It’s so hard to pick one highlight of the day, it was everything we had dreamed off and way more. Becoming husband and wife in front of our friends and family was really special to us, we had waited over 4 years for that moment and it was pretty special to us. Seeing our wedding venue details all come alive and hearing such amazing comments from our guests! Parting all night with our friends and family and another moment our guests loved it when I decided to get on the Mic singing Proud Mary!

 If you had to give a few words of wisdom to those who are planning the wedding, what would you say?
 It’s your wedding day, you do what you want and spend how much money you want. You always hear so many people say they regret not having this or that on their day, we didn’t want that at all. You can book and have what you want! Always make sure you research into your suppliers and book early. The earlier you book the better the price you’re going to get. Also, you won’t be disappointed when someone emails you back saying your date has already gone. If you’re going to splash out anywhere on the wedding make sure you splash out on the photographer and videographer. You only get the day once, so you really want to make sure that you can treasure the moments through your photos and the video. You may also forget to eat as you’re having such a good time, ask your caterer to pack you a doggy bag for when you leave! On the day relax and take it all in, your wedding will be perfect no matter what, just enjoy every second!

And finally… Why have you chosen Martin to photograph your day and what was your photography experience like?
When people leave reviews about Martin being a Ninja, they are not wrong! He really is a Ninja, you don’t even know he is there on the wedding day and that’s why he creates the most amazing images. That’s the reason why we booked Martin to photograph our wedding. Choosing Martin was one of the easiest decisions we had to make. I had come across his Facebook page and as soon as I looked at the photos, we knew that we needed Martin to capture our wedding. It’s important that the photos you have taken on the day represent how you’re feeling on the day and the idea of having loads of posed pictures wasn’t for us. Martin was perfect for the job! Also, he is an amazing photographer and gave us the best experience. Martin was the second person we booked and he stayed in touch as it was 4 years to go when we had booked him. We can’t thank him enough for the outstanding photos he took of our day!
